2009 Pontiac Torrent Review OverviewA five-passenger compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), the 2009 Pontiac Torrent is available in two trims, Base and GXP, with both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) models. For 2009, OnStar, Bluetooth connectivity, and side curtain airbags are standard.Power and performanceThe Base trim comes with a 185-horsepower, 3.4 liter, V6 engine while the GXP is powered by a 3.6 liter V6 engine with variable valve timing rated at 264 horsepower. A five-speed automatic transmision is standard on the Base trim. The GXP trim gets a standard 6-speed automatic transmission.Body and stylingMainly a carryover from the 2008 model year with a host of exterior and interior standard features, the 2009 Pontiac Torrent features the available Preferred Package with cargo net remote vehicle start; auto-dimming inside rearview mirror; 6-way power driver seat; premium cloth seating; leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls; deep-tinted glass; and rear seat armrest with two cup holders. A Sun and Sound Package with power sunroof; in-dash 6-CD changer; 260-watt Pioneer premium audio system with 7 speakers is available as an option.
