The 2007 Pontiac Torrent is the first ever SUV to roll out from GM’s Pontiac division. The 2007 Pontiac Torrent is a 4-door, 5-passenger sport-utility, available in two trims, the FWD and the AWD. The SUV is built on the same platform as its corporate sibling the Chevrolet Equinox.

For 2007, the Torrent is available as a front-wheel drive with an optional on-demand all-wheel-drive configuration. Standard features include 16-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, keyless entry and power windows and mirrors. Optional packages such as Preferred Package, Premium Package, Security Package and Sun and Sound Package offers buyers a large collection of optional features.

The Pontiac Torrent FWD has an EPA mileage rating of 19/26 mpg. The Pontiac Torrent AWD on the other hand has an EPA mileage rating of 19/25 mpg. Both versions of the Pontiac Torrent come with a power train warranty of 3yrs/36,000 miles.

Powering the Pontiac Torrent is a standard 185 horsepower, 3.4-liter engine that generates 210 pound feet of torque. The 5-speed Automatic Transmission is the lone transmission available and accelerates the V6 from 0-60 mph in less than 8.5 seconds.

Torrent’s On-demand all-wheel-drive system is designed to deliver power automatically to the front and rear wheels simultaneously to avoid wheel slippage during rain, snow or when tackling muddy surfaces. The system is designed to acquire maximal traction on all four wheels.
