2007 Pontiac G6

Options galore

For 2007, Pontiac has not tinkered in any major way with what it had come out with for 2006; the peak power of this progeny of the Grand Am is now toned down to 3.5 L, having done away with the 3.9L that it had in the 2006 GTP. This apart, it retains the 2006 make with no noticeable changes.

On this G6, you have a really vast spread of trims to choose from, seven to be precise. The trims that are available to choose from are prudently spread, with some of them being of the same power and specs. For instance, the 1SV Sedan and the G6 Sedan have been clubbed together with an engine of 2.4L I4, delivering 169 hp; the GT Coupe and GT Sedan both have a capacity of 252 hp riding on a 3.5L V6, while the GTP Sedan and Coupe deliver a deadly output of 252 hp standing on a 3.6 LV6. Finally, the GT Convertible has been fitted with a 3.5 L V6 that gives out 217 hp. All these come with a basic warranty of 36 months or 36,000 miles.

All of these can be either 4-speed Automatic Transmission (AT) or 6-speed Manual Transmission (MT). This certainly makes for a good menu on the table, and each is really palatable.

Performance:

The 6-speed manual can dash off to 60 mph in just 6.77 seconds. This is undoubtedly a good start to have on any surface, but Pontiac would have done its consumers a world of good, had it made this type available on all trims. As a result, only those trims that have the 6-speed manual can be expected to dart forward at this rate.

Talking about the body types, the models have reinforced structural rigidity; this makes the hardtop easily foldable, a good advantage in some weather conditions.

Great looks combine with deadly power

The one thing that really stands out in the G6 is its really sprawling interior. Despite its space and good innovative features, the G6 doesn’t cost a bomb. One of the features that it has taken off from the last year is the remote start. A press of a button fob on the key fob is all that is needed to start it miles before you approach it (figuratively speaking, of course!). Looking at its height, it looks like Pontiac had NBA players in mind while designing this car.  A positive verdict is all one can give for this car overall.

Tons of features

If one were to view the seven trims in their totality, all that one can get are feature upon feature. The elementary model, the G6 1 SV has driver airbag with dual stage deployment, AM/FM radio with seek, scan and 6 speakers, in-glass radio antenna and manual air conditioning.
Even the base model has power windows and programmable door locks with power locking, locks and mirrors; a 60/40-split-folding rear seat; a CD player; and a tilt/telescoping steering wheel.
The GT puts in a few of its own –its power-adjustable pedals, an eight-speaker Monsoon sound system and a rear spoiler to boot. Not to be left behind, the GTP adds sport suspension, stability control, 18-inch wheels and automatic climate control. And then, there are chrome alloy wheels for all of these. Finding it hard to digest? Well, this is the sea of features that one gets with the whole range of Pontiac models.

Comfort, Controls & Convenience

The dashboard is an inviting piece of art for sure. The digital clock, tachometer, delayed courtesy lights, illuminated entry, daytime running lights, time delay automatic on/off headlights, perimeter lighting with 20-second duration are all on the basic model. These apart, the G6 offers a remote starting system, power adjustable pedals, and OnStar and XM Satellite Radio. In no way do these compromise on utility –there is amplitude of cargo space. Any wonder why this car has gone down to become synonymous with comfort and luxury?

Quite performer

The Pontiac G6 takes on virtually any surface with ease. It does not distinguish much between a mountainous terrain and a flawless highway. It has enough class in it to take on any of these without bating. Each of the classes loves the road. Shifting on to higher speeds comes naturally, and you would not even know the extent to which you have accelerated. In short, the ideal car for all surfaces.

Safety ratings

A car of such proportions and variety is expected to be accompanied by high safety standards. Pontiac is not a letdown on this score. A high priority given to this aspect makes this a car worth investing in, and feel secure about. The GT Convertible, for instance, has so many safety features that it would be difficult to explain them fully. With all these safety features, many G6 models gain five stars from NHTSA.
