The Yukon Denali made its debut in 1999, and is a luxury version of GMC’s Yukon full-size SUV. The Yukon has long been the tow vehicle of choice, and this 2007 redesign enables it to retain its position on top. The 2007 Denali seats up to eight passengers, is all-new and available in both regular and extended-wheelbase versions, with distinctive new exterior styling that further differentiates the Denali from other full-size GM SUVs Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, power fold-and-tumble second row seat, heated first- and second-row seats, power liftgate, remote start and all-wheels drive.

The Yukon XL Denali comes with a 6.2-liter V8 making 380 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque, teamed with a 6-speed automatic with manual mode, all-wheel drive system, and the AutoRide active electronic suspension. When properly equipped, the Yukon can tow up to 8200 pounds. Fuel economy is an EPA 15/21 (City/Highway) miles per gallon.

Up front, the Yukon wears a one-piece signature grille, specific headlight design with jewel-like bezels, and a wider lower air dam. In profile, the Denali has heavy fenders, long rear-quarter windows and squared-off back end with unique taillights. Chrome trim accents are visible in the front fascia, side moldings, door handles and roof race. The interior of the Denali receives a unique center console design, wood trim and a Denali interior color scheme. Standard equipment includes 18-inch 9-spoke polished aluminum wheels, tri-zone climate control, power windows, power locks, cruise control, message center, trip computer, deep tinted glass, foglamps, heated mirrors, tow package, heated first- and second-row seats, a Bose premium audio system and an available heated steering wheel.

The Yukon Denali’s ride quality is excellent, overall due to its upgraded suspension. The new fully boxed frame is 49 percent stiffer and 35 percent more resistant. The front track is wider by three inches, and the rear by one inch.
Standard four-wheel disc brakes with ABS are substantially upgraded for 2007, with larger discs and stiffer calipers. Standard electronic stability systems, traction control, dual frontal airbags, side curtain-type airbags that cover all three rows of seats are standard on the Yukon Denali. Front side-impact airbags are not available. The Yukon Denali earned 5-Stars in government front-impact crash tests.
