The 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD is a full-size pickup truck manufactured by General Motors. It is offered in 2-wheel drive (2WD) and 4-wheel drive (4WD) versions.

The Sierra 2500HD is available in three body-styles: Regular Cab, Extended Cab, and Crew Cab, and two cargo box sizes: Standard Box and Long Box.

The Regular Cab is available only with the Long Box, while the Extended Cab and Crew Cab are available with Standard and Long Box.

The Regular Cab is available in two trims: Work Truck and SLE1, while the Extended Cab and Crew Cab are available in four trim levels each: Work Truck, SLE1, SLE2, and SLT. All trims have different seating configurations.

The Sierra 2500HD comes with a powertrain warranty for five years or 100,000 miles and a bumper-to-bumper limited warranty for three years or 36,000 miles.

The 2500HD competes with the likes of Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, Dodge Ram 1500, Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra.

All trims of the Sierra 2500HD are powered by a standard Vortec 6.0-liter V-8 engine, which delivers 353 hp and 373 lb-ft. of torque. This engine is linked to a standard electronically-controlled, heavy-duty 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and tow/haul mode.

However, all trims are also available with the option of a Duramax Turbo Diesel 6.6-liter V-8 engine, which churns out 365 hp and 660 lb-ft. of torque. This engine is linked to an electronically controlled Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, electronic engine grade braking, and tow/haul mode.

The transmission’s tow/haul mode reduces shift busyness while towing or hauling and provides auto grade braking.

The Sierra 2500 looks tough and brawny, yet uniquely stylish. Its length varies from 224.7 to 258.7 inches, while the wheelbase ranges from 133.0 to 167.0 inches, depending upon the trim level. The front fascia of 2500HD is adorned by a chrome front bumper, chrome grille surround, black air dam, and dual halogen composite headlamps, which include automatic exterior lamp control and flash-to-pass feature. The large grille sports the bold GMC insignia in its middle.

Daytime running lamps, with automatic exterior lamp control are also standard on all trims. Front halogen fog lamps are standard on SLE1, SLE2, and SLT, and optional on the Work Truck. Body-color body-side moldings are standard on SLE1, SLE2 and SLT. All trims feature a standard step-style rear chrome bumper with pad.

The Sierra 2500HD is offered with a pickup box in two sizes. The Standard Box and Long Box measure 78.7 and 97.6 inches respectively. A cargo management system, which includes factory-installed rails mounted on the box sides and bulkhead with sliding tie-down hooks, is optional on all trims. Each rail can support up to 500 pounds and the system can be equipped with a variety of genuine GMC accessories such as a sliding metal divider, commercial overhead rack, sliding metal tool box, and sliding metal side storage boxes.

Dual lamps in the cargo area are a standard feature for all trims. All trims come with two frame-mounted front recovery hooks. Roof-mounted luggage rack side rails are optional on SLE1, SLE2, and SLT. The Work Truck comes standard with manual-folding side mirrors, while the SLE1 and SLE2 feature heated, power-adjustable, manual folding side mirrors. The SLT comes with heated, power-adjustable, power-folding side mirrors with driver-side auto-dimming, integrated turn signal indicators and curb-tilt. These side-mirrors are optional on SLE2. All trims come standard with front intermittent wipers. However, a heated windshield washer fluid system is standard on SLT and optional on SLE2.

The Sierra 2500HD may wear 16-inch steel wheels, 16-inch chrome styled-steel wheels, 16-inch polished forged aluminum wheels, or 17-inch bright machined aluminum wheels, depending upon the trim level. The Work Truck, SLE1, and SLE2 roll on standard LT245/75R16E all-season, Blackwall tires, and are also available with the option of LT245/75R16E on-/off-road, Blackwall tires. The SLT rides on standard LT265/75R17E all-terrain, Blackwall tires, which are optional on SLE1 and SLE2.

The SLE1, SLE2, and SLT are available with EZ-Lift Tailgate Package, which includes a locking tail-gate and EZ-Lift tail-gate.

The Sierra 2500HD comes with chic, comfortable interiors. The Regular Cab can seat a maximum of three passengers, while the Extended Cab and Crew Cab models can seat up to six passengers each.

The Regular Cab Long Box models and Extended Cab Standard Box models come standard with a 3-passenger 40/20/40 split-bench front seat, with driver and passenger manual reclining, outboard head restraints and center fold-down armrest with storage. The Regular Cab models feature a vinyl-trimmed front-seat, while the Extended Cab models come with a cloth-trimmed front seat.

The Extended Cab Long Box models feature reclining bucket front seats, which include 6-way power seat adjusters for the driver and front passenger, manual lumbar and recline for the front passenger, adjustable outboard head restraints, and storage pockets. These seats are available in premium cloth and leather seating surfaces.
 
The Crew Cab Standard Box models come with full-feature bucket front seats, which include 12-way power seat adjusters for the driver and passenger, 4-way power lumbar control, power bolsters, heated seat cushions and seatbacks, 2-position driver memory, adjustable outboard head restraints, floor console and storage pockets. These seats feature leather-appointed seating surfaces.

All trims come standard with a 3-passenger 60/40 folding bench rear seat, which can be folded up. It, however, is not available on Regular Cab models or Extended Cab Work Truck. The latter is available with a full-width, 3-passenger rear bench seat, which can be folded.

The Regular Cab SLE1, Extended Cab Work Truck and SLE1, and Crew Cab Work Truck and SLE1 come standard with manual, single-zone air-conditioning with front climate control. The SLE2 and SLT feature automatic, dual-zone air-conditioning with individual climate settings for driver and right front passenger. Power windows and power programmable door locks are standard on the SLE1, SLE2, and SLT. The Work Truck also comes with the option of power programmable door locks.

The SLE1, SLE2, and SLT come standard with a leather-wrapped steering wheel with theft-deterrent locking feature, while a tilt-adjustable steering column is present in all trims. The SLE2 and SLT have also got steering wheel-mounted radio controls, which are optional on SLE1. Steering wheel-mounted electronic cruise control with set and resume speed is a standard feature of SLE1, SLE2, and SLT, and is optional on the Work Truck. The SLE2 and SLT come with a floor console, including a storage compartment and dual cup-holders. A driver information center is standard on all trims.

The Work Truck comes standard with a manual day/night inside rear-view mirror, while the SLE1, SLE2 and SLT feature a light-sensitive auto dimming inside rear-view mirror with an 8-point compass and an outside temperature indicator. The Work Truck features solar-ray light tinted glass on windows, while the SLE1, SLE2, and SLT are equipped with solar-ray deep tinted glass on windows, which is optional on the Work Truck. The SLE1, SLE2, and SLT offer the option of a power sunroof with Express-Open. This sunroof can be slid open at the push of a button.
 
The SLE1, SLE2, and SLT are available with the option of a power-sliding rear window. An electric defogger on the rear-window is standard on SLE1, SLE2, and SLT trims, and optional on the Work Truck trim. All trims feature standard 12-volt auxiliary power outlets. The SLE1, SLE2, and SLT are also available with convenient power-adjustable pedals for accelerator and brake.

The maximum cargo capacity of the 2500HD’s pickup bed is 75.5 cubic-feet. It can tow up to 13,000 pounds and can handle a maximum payload of 3,992 pounds.

The 2500HD also comes packed with a whole lots of entertainment options. The Work Truck trim has a standard audio system, including an AM/FM stereo and seek-and-scan. The SLE1 and SLE2 feature an audio system with MP3 compatible CD player, which includes an AM/FM stereo, seek-and-scan, and auto-tone control, Radio Data System (RDS), and speed-compensated volume control. The SLT boasts of an audio system with MP3 compatible 6-disc in-dash CD player, which includes an AM/FM stereo, seek-and-scan, an auto-tone control, and RDS.

Some other entertainment options available on the 2500HD include an audio system with MP3 compatible CD/DVD player, an audio system with navigation, an XM satellite radio, and a Bose premium speaker system.

The Sierra 2500HD is available in 2WD and 4WD layouts. Both are competent, though the 4WD offers enhanced traction to the 2500HD’s wheels on slippery terrains. The 2500HD is navigated by a power recirculating-ball steering, which offers quick and direct responses.The 2500HD is powered by a standard Vortec 6.0L V-8 engine, which delivers an impressive power of 353 hp and remarkable acceleration for driving on all kinds of terrains and under all kinds of conditions. The engine is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and tow/haul mode, which not only shifts smoothly, but also improves the fuel-economy. It rides on an independent front suspension with torsion-bar, while the rear suspension includes 2-stage multi-leaf semi-elliptic springs. This suspension system largely reduces the impact of bumps or jerks on roads and gives a comfortable, smooth ride. It is equipped with 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, which shoot out vigorous stopping power and bring it to a quick halt.All trims are also available with the option of heavy-duty automatic locking rear differential, which evenly distributes power to both rear wheels in slippery conditions. At lower speeds, the differential automatically senses wheel spin, locks the rear axle and transfers torque to the rear wheel with more traction, thereby helping the driver to handle slippery terrains effectively.Ultrasonic rear parking assist with rear-view LED display and audible warning is optional on the SLE1, SLE2, and SLT trim levels of the Extended Cab and Crew Cab models. With a turning diameter ranging from 45.3 to 55.1 feet, you will have to be a little cautious while driving or parking the 2500HD in tight spots. However, a high ground clearance of 9.5 inches readies it to take on irregular and rough terrains with great ease.
